Deposits that fit how you get paid: 0% terms, deposits that wait for real money and payment receipts

Not every job needs a deposit, and a customer choosing bank transfer is not the same as money in your account. Deposits now bend to the way you actually get paid.

Set a 0% deposit

• Deposit % accepts 0, in Settings > Quote Preferences > Payment Terms, per work type and client type.
• The customer just accepts. One Confirm acceptance button, no payment step, the quote goes straight to Paid and the job's invoice carries the full total. Edit the Terms text on that tab to match.

Transfer and cash wait for the money

• No more phantom deposits. Picking EFT, cash or a custom method used to mark the quote Paid with nothing received. Now it stays Accepted with an Awaiting Deposit Payment panel until you record the money, and the customer is told you will confirm once their payment arrives.
• You hear about it through a Deposit method chosen push reading No payment recorded yet, plus an email. Stripe card payments are unchanged: verified at acceptance, Paid immediately.
• Email deposit details to customers, a new owner-only toggle on the same tab, emails them the amount, your Deposit Payment Methods instructions and a View your quote button, in your name.

Start the job before the deposit lands

• Receive Deposit and Create / Link Job now sit side by side, and the warning you get for carrying on offers Create job anyway.
• A draft deposit invoice comes with it, numbered <job>-2 alongside the job's base invoice, ready to send as the deposit request.

Part payments and receipts

• Receive Deposit takes part payments on the portal and in the app: $200.00 received so far. $300.00 still owing. It refuses more than is owing, and the quote flips to Paid only once the deposit is covered, however the money arrives.
• Download receipt (PDF) sits on every payment row: a one page branded receipt in your Document Theme, marked This is a receipt, not a tax invoice. Card payments also offer View card receipt (Stripe).

Worth knowing

• ServiceM8: transfer and cash acceptances create the job with no deposit line. It is added when you record the deposit, and Retry repairs a missing one.
• Automations: quote.paid now fires when the deposit is really received, or when your terms need none, so later than before for EFT, cash and custom methods. Move anything needing the moment of acceptance to quote.accepted.
