Energy rebates: pass them on, bill your provider and see what you keep
Show the customer their rebate on the quote, bill the rebate provider from one Rebates list and count the provider's payment in your job profit.
If you install air conditioning under an energy rebate scheme, the rebate passes through your books twice: off the customer's price, then back from the provider. Cooledge now tracks both sides, so you can see what is still owed and what you keep.
Three fields on your AC quotes
- Discount ($) comes off the price. The customer sees "Includes discount of $200.00".
- Customer rebate ($) is the rebate you pass on. The customer sees "Includes rebate of $300.00".
- Rebate from provider (inc GST) is what the provider pays you, with You keep worked out underneath. Only owners and admins see it.
- They replace the old Discount Type picker on split, multi, VRV, install only and ducted quotes. Itemised and trade quotes get the rebate fields too.
Bill your provider
- Mark the provider. Turn on Rebate provider on the customer's Details tab. Providers are left out of campaigns and review requests.
- Add the reference. Each job takes a Rebate reference, the provider's project number for it.
- One list. Invoices > Rebates shows every job with a rebate: what the provider owes, what you keep and its status: Not invoiced, Invoiced, Part paid, Paid or Received (recorded).
- Create rebate invoice, then Add rebate lines to pick the jobs. Each line carries the job, customer, suburb and rebate reference.
- Rebate invoices are emailed with the PDF attached and sync to Xero or QuickBooks as an ordinary invoice.
Already been paid?
Some providers pay before you invoice them. Record received rebates logs several at once, each with the job, amount, date, provider and reference. The job shows as Received (recorded) with no invoice needed.
Rebate income in your profit
The job's Profitability card adds a Rebate from provider row (estimate against actual) and counts it in your margin. The estimate shows how much went to the customer and how much you keep.
Plans
Rebates are on Starter, Growth and Scale. Turn them on in Settings > Company Settings on the Rebates card. If you used the old Rebate discount type, it is already on. Rebates are for owners and admins: team members quoting in the app see Discount ($) and Customer rebate ($), but never the provider rebate or rebate invoices. Rebate fields are not used on ventilation or subfloor ventilation quotes. Guide: Energy Rebates. See also job profitability estimates.
