Plumbing and electrical quotes: flat rate tasks from a ready-made catalogue

Quoting a tap swap or a switchboard upgrade used to mean a blank quote and typing every line yourself. Now there are two new quote types, Plumbing Quote and Electrical Quote, that build the quote by picking flat rate tasks off a catalogue that arrives already filled in. A catalogue that comes filled in

• 84 plumbing tasks and 70 electrical tasks, plus 15 hot water units and 20 starter parts, ready on day one. There is no setup step.
• Organised the way you think about the work. Nine plumbing categories from Tapware and Toilets to Drains, Gas and Hot Water. Ten electrical categories from Power Points and Lighting to Switchboards, Safety and Alarms and EV Charging.
• Only where it applies. The new quote types appear only for businesses whose industries include Plumbing or Electrical. Each trade gets its own quote reference prefix too: PLB- for plumbing, ELEC- for electrical.

Pick tasks, not blank lines

• A task picker built for speed. Search, category and subcategory pills, star favourites with their own Favourites pill and every price shown inc GST. Tasks that depend on a unit show from $X until you pick one.
• A detail sheet that does the sums. Choose the unit, say which hot water system, tick suggested add-ons under Often added with this and watch the running total update live, then hit Add to Quote.
• Parts and products too. A separate Add Part or Product modal, grouped by category, with a quantity on every line.
• An editor that keeps you honest. Line items are labelled inc GST or ex GST per line and a hand-edited price shows an adjusted from $X caption. Until you have reviewed your pricing, an amber notice reads Some prices on this quote are Cooledge starter prices. Review them in Settings > Catalogue before you send.

Make the prices yours

• Settings → Plumbing Catalogue and Electrical Catalogue. Tasks plus Parts and Products tabs, with your overrides layered over the global list. Rename a task, rewrite its description, change the parts cost or labour hours, set a flat price, switch rows off or star your favourites. Badges show what is a Starter price, what is Edited and what is Yours.
• A formula you control. Parts cost (inc GST) × Materials markup + Labour hours × Labour rate (inc GST) = Task price. You can set a Plumbing or Electrical labour rate that overrides your business rate for that trade only.
• Your own categories. When you add a task or product, pick New category... and type your own. Type a name that already exists and it joins the existing group instead of creating a near-duplicate.
• Clearer GST labelling everywhere. Cost fields across the whole catalogue, the AC catalogue included, now read Your cost (inc GST, before markup) and labour rates read /hr inc GST. Enter what you pay including GST, markup goes on top and the quote line shows inc GST.

The full flow on your phone

Plumbing Quote and Electrical Quote are in the Create Quote sheet in the mobile app, with the same task picker, favourites, the detail sheet with units and add-ons, parts and products with quantity steppers, editing of existing trade quotes and PDF generation from the phone. The update arrives over the air, so there is nothing to install. If you cannot see the new quote types yet, fully close the app and open it again.

Then it is just a quote

From there a trade quote flows exactly like every other quote: PDF, a public quote link labelled by trade, accept, deposit, job creation, invoicing and ServiceM8 sync. Your first flat rate quote is a handful of taps, priced from your labour rate and markup rather than a guess in the driveway.
